By Vanessa Rivera Quiñones, PhD; Latinx and Hispanics in the Mathematical Sciences
Latinx and Hispanics in the Mathematical Sciences (www.lathisms.org) was founded in 2016 with the mission of showcasing the contributions of Latinx and Hispanic mathematicians during Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States, from September 15 to October 15 each year. Our goal is to provide an accessible platform that features the multifaceted and diverse nature of the Latinx and Hispanic mathematics community and inspires the younger generation of Latinx mathematicians.
We are excited to announce that during Hispanic Heritage Month 2021 our calendar will feature mathematicians in nonprofits and in Business, Industry, Government (BIG).
Do you know outstanding Latinx mathematicians working in the U.S. who hold a degree in mathematics (undergraduate, graduate, or both) working in business, industry, government (BIG), or nonprofits? Nominate them below!
The nomination form requires only a few items of information.
Deadline: April 15, 2021.
Feel free to distribute this announcement widely, as our goal is to feature mathematicians from diverse backgrounds whose work is impactful within our community.
Thank you in advance! Any questions? Contact us at lathisms@gmail.com.
