BIG Math Network: Industry Connect Series: Experiences of Recent Graduates

The Industry Connection Series features interactive panels with
mathematical scientists working in industry. The goal is to connect
mathematical sciences students directly with industry members who can
answer student-generated questions. Students at all levels are welcome and encouraged to attend and ask questions.

The next event is Wednesday, October 29th, 2025, at 3:00 PM EST, focusing on entering the job market and settling into an industrial position. Panelists will be Dr. Natalie Jadue and Zachary Vandecar.

Dr. Natalie Jadue is a Data Scientist at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. currently working on a wide array of topics including implementing LLM solutions and portfolio optimization. She graduated with her bachelors of science in mathematics from Youngstown State University in 2018. She continued her education at Purdue University where she obtained her PhD in mathematics in 2024. Her primary research during her graduate studies focused on image processing specifically medical image reconstruction.`

Zachary Vandecar graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics. Not confident in what he wanted to study in college, he started with Computer Science, but was unsure if it was exactly what he was looking for. He really enjoyed his math courses, so he continued taking them until it got to a point where he met the criteria for a Major in Mathematics as well. He found that projects in Computer Science required the most work of all his courses in college, but his math courses required the most thought. Zach is currently employed as a Data Engineer and gets to use skills from computer science and math – but the most important skills he uses are critical thinking, problem solving and communication.
