The Industry Connection Series features interactive panels with
mathematical scientists working in industry. The goal is to connect
mathematical sciences students directly with industry members who can
answer student-generated questions. Students at all levels are welcome and encouraged to attend and ask questions.
The next event is Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, at 3:00 PM EST, focusing on the importance of communication in all stages of a mathematician’s career. Panelists will be Dr. Sonya Snedecor and Dr. Suzanne Weekes.
Dr. Sonya Snedecor started her career in biomathematics after receiving her PhD from UCLA. She has formed her own practice, Science Clarity, to coach scientists to apply practical tools to communicate their research effectively so they can earn the appreciation and opportunities they deserve.
Dr. Suzanne Weekes is Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and Professor Emeritus at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She has had extensive experience securing the support of industry, government and other organizations for her students, her own work and her discipline.
