The Industry Connection Series features interactive panels with
mathematical scientists working in industry. The goal is to connect
mathematical sciences students directly with industry members who can
answer student-generated questions. Students at all levels are welcome and encouraged to attend and ask questions.
The next event is Friday, January 17th, 2025, at 4:30 PM EST, focusing on connecting students to professionals who are also recent graduates. Panelists will be Quintessa Hay, Eric Warren, Ayesha Darekar, and Roland Van Duine.
Quintessa Hay completed her PhD in Systems Modeling and Analysis at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her research focuses on mathematical modeling and statistical analysis of biological systems, specifically addressing lung injury in vulnerable populations and coral reef recovery in a warming climate. Quintessa currently serves as an instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University and works as a junior engineer at Applied Research Associates, where she contributes to government contracts with the Department of Defense.
Eric Warren is a Consultant at Resolution Economics, LLC. His work includes using statistical analysis to act as a third party resource for employment legal disputes. Eric received his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics in May 2023 and his Master’s degree in Statistics in May 2024, both from North Carolina State University.
Ayesha Darekar works in Seattle as a data scientist in the defense and space division at Boeing. She graduated from North Carolina State University in May 2024 with undergraduate degrees in statistics and physics and a minor in math.
Roland Van Duine is a recent graduate from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Math. He is currently working as a Software Engineer at Travelers Insurance, where he primarily focuses on backend development. Having recently transitioned from being a student to starting his career, he is looking forward to sharing his experience.
